Meadow Grass Turf – Pros and Cons

May 13th, 2012

Meadow grass turf is one of the most affordable and popular types of turf for gardens and lawns. This turf is found on agricultural grasslands; it comes with an assortment of grass species native to where it was lifted. Meadow grass turf has its advantages and disadvantages, which we will discuss below.

Meadow grass turf comes with a large range of grasses, including weed species. Hence, if you are looking to purchase a low-maintenance turf, meadow turf may not be the best choice for you. This turf will require the gardener to start engaging in a number of routines to control the weeds, such as pulling, using herbicides, as well as fertilizing and mowing frequently.

To ensure that meadow grass turf acclimates on your soil, you need to make sure that it was lifted from the soil that matches yours. Soils are not uniform – they have different ratios of clay, sand, and silt in them. Moreover, turf will be best for you if it comes from a climate that’s similar to yours in temperature, the amount of sunlight, and humidity. Ensuring that meadow grass turf matches your climate and soil will help you achieve the fastest acclimatization of the new turf in your garden.

The good point of purchasing any type of turf is that it is much easier to prepare the site for turf laying in comparison to seed sowing. In case of sowing seed, the gardener would need to start preparing their site as much as six months prior to the actual seed sowing. In case of turf, it may require as little as a few weeks.

How long should you wait prior to placing meadow grass turf after preparing the soil? It is advised to have the soil prepared at least a few weeks in advance. This will allow for the soil to “heel” and settle. Site preparation includes: leveling, spraying weeds with herbicide (at least 2 weeks before laying the turf), and applying a fertilizer.

When can you place the meadow grass turf? The best times for laying are spring and autumn – that is when the soil is warm and moist enough to ensure a quick establishment. The lawn can also be laid in the summer, provided that you are willing to irrigate it frequently. In fact, the turf can be laid at any other time of the year, as its root system will also start to develop during colder periods.

So, the main advantages of meadow grass turf include: it gives an instant sward cover, you can lay it almost anytime, and you need less preparation. The main disadvantages of meadow grass turf include: it costs more than seed, it can contain undesirable grasses and weeds, imports alien soil to the bed, and causes root breakage.

Three Office Devices Every Administrative Assistant Needs

May 12th, 2012

Being an administrative assistant is hard work but the right office machines and supplies can make your job a lot easier. From computers to staplers, paper shredders to letter openers, the right equipment is essential. Thus, here are three office devices that every administrative assistant needs to make his or her day a little easier. Check them out….

  1. The Martin Yale 1624 Letter Opener. First on our list is the 1624, which is a handheld letter opener from Martin Yale. This device is small enough to fit in your desk drawer while still being powerful enough to open an envelope in just a few seconds. It’s powered by 4 AA batteries but is incredibly lightweight so using it is a comfortable experience even when you’re opening a lot of envelopes. This opener’s blades are totally enclosed so you’ll never have to worry about cutting yourself. Also, this letter opener comes with a one-year warranty.

  2. The Techko LF282N Paper Folder. Even though e-mail is now commonly used by just about everyone, there are still times when correspondence needs to be sent through the old-fashioned kind of mail. That’s where a paper folder like the Techko LF282N can come in handy. This machine can fold up to 5 sheets of paper at a time and it’s compatible with both letter- and A4-sized paper. When you use this device, your documents will come out of it perfectly folded so you can pop them into envelopes and move on to something else. Also, the LF282N is small enough to fit on your desk so you can always have easy access to it. Like the 1624 letter opener, it’s backed by a a one-year warranty.

  3. The GBC Shredmaster GDX1813 Cross-Cut Paper Shredder. Finally, every administrative assistant needs to have access a high-quality paper shredder. A particularly good one is the GBC Shredmaster GDX1813, a cross-cut machine that offers Level 3 security. This device can shred up to 18 sheets at a time and it will even destroy CD’s, credit cards, and document fasteners. It’s even equipped with a JamFree technology so you can shred a great deal without having to deal with a paper jam. (This technology will let you know if you’re trying to shred too much at once. You’ll then have a change to remove the materials to prevent a jam.) Since the GDX1813 has a large 13-gallon wastebasket, this would be a good machine for a shared work area. This is a very durable machine that comes with 2-year warranty on parts and labor while the cutting mechanism is covered for 20 years.

All three of these devices can help make your job as an administrative assistant much easier. The letter opener and paper folder make it easy to process both incoming and outgoing mail so you can spend time on more important matters. The paper shredder will enable you to get rid of unwanted documents and keep your employer’s information private. See if you can get these products for your office to make your job easier.

Promoting A Web Site: A Practical Guide To Attracting Visitors

May 12th, 2012

There is only one way to go about promoting a web site. Coming up with a great plan will get you to where you want to go. This is the only way you should promote your website that will have the biggest results. What you want to do is break everything down into simple little steps.

It’s a well-known fact that the search engines don’t make it known what their methods are for ranking is. If we take a look at what other people do we can get a good idea of what to put in our SEO plan. Everybody is different, so you have to come up with a plan that best suits you.

Are you going after a big or little niche? This is a question that you want to keep in mind when you are doing your keyword research. Once you figure out what niche you’re going for, make sure that it is something you can handle. Go for the niche with the best possible traffic for the area you are most qualified for. Start out very small and work your way up. Once you have a good firm footing on what you’re going to be doing, you can build your way up from there.

If you already know a lot about a certain topic, then I’d suggest putting that into some sort of a business plan and selling it online. There are many ways you can go about doing this, but going after something or selling something that you know nothing about will be very difficult.

Why are you promoting the website you are putting up? Any reason why you want to rank for that keyword? Many individual put up websites for different reasons. What are yours? Does the ad copy drive someone to buy the product you have? Write all the questions you have and implement them into your SEO plan.

Many individuals put up websites for the purpose of selling a product or service. When you do your testing you’ll want to keep the end user in the back of your mind. Promoting a web site is hard work and you don’t want to waste your valuable time.

Most people do split testing to see what works best for them. The split testing might take a little bit of time, but it is well worth the effort to finding out what your buyers want from you. These are very important steps that shouldn’t be ignored. Keep a higher goal in mind when promoting your website, not just for the thrill of getting high rankings. Write everything down on a piece of paper and go over it with a fine tooth comb. If you keep all of these steps in mind, than promoting a web site will be nothing more than a piece of cake for you to do.

I Just Want the Choice! A Home Based Business Can Help Provide Just That.

May 10th, 2012

Many people this day in age are turning away from the traditional workplace and going into business for themselves. With good reason. A Home Based Business can mean more freedom with your time, financial independence and most of all: mental independence which translates into options.

Being able to run your own Home Based Business means different things to different people. Some try to make a go of it because they want money and the freedom that comes with it. People don’t realize how much money they make the company they work for, until they start to work for themselves. When I worked in my last “job”, I maintained over $100,000.00 in sales a month. Do you know how much I personally profited off of that chunk? Go on, take a guess.

I don’t want to get depressed looking back on how little I had obviously valued myself, but I made a commission of 1%.

I had two reasons to start my Home Based Business. I had left my job on maternity leave with my first child and I decided I wanted to stay at home. What parent wouldn’t prefer the choice? If it’s not your thing and you like leaving home to get away from the family for a bit each day, more power to you. That’s not the point. Having the CHOICE is the point. What do I want to do with my day today is what I get to ask myself every morning thanks to the fact that I took a small risk and started my own Home Based Business.

My second reason was that 1%. I promised myself I would never undervalue myself like that again. I wasn’t starving, but after taxes and pension and everything else they wanted out of me, I wasn’t getting ahead either. It still blows my mind when I think about it. I was only earning one little percentile of a huge amount of money. I deserved more and I wanted more and when I looked into my little son’s gorgeous face I knew I would never settle again and I would never let him down by not being able to provide for him.

When I decided a Home Based Business was the way to go I heard about it from everyone I told. They all thought I was mad. Not because I had aspirations but because it seemed too off the beaten path. I was looking for something off the beaten path though, because my personal path had been beaten to death. It had nothing for me but disappointment and a less than lacklustre pay check. Starting a conventional business wasn’t an option, with huge start up costs and immense financial risks involved, a Home Based Business was a more viable option because of the ease to start and the fact that I could work on it according to my schedule.

People who start to think about building their own Home Based Business often believe they are looking at an impossibly high mountain to climb. Taking small steps and getting involved with like-minded people can not only help you turbo-charge your Home Based business, but also your mind set.

A Home Based Business and working for your own advancement isn’t impossible, you can work for yourself and more importantly, create choices for yourself. The ultimate motivation should be your own happiness and your own success.

Being able to work at home is certainly an accessible dream. And Joel Broughton is a Full Time Home Based Business Consultant. To learn more about How to Work at Home you can visit his Free Resource website at: Work At Home

Passion plus Business: The Key to Success

May 10th, 2012

I have long been a believer that in business, everything comes down to a formula. There is a formula for making more money. There is a formula for business success, and there are other simple formulas that apply to businesses universally.

One of the simplest formulas out there, however, is that passion plus business equals success.

What is passion in business, however, and how do you know that you are passionate about your business?

Passion in business is easy to distinguish. It is that burning desire to get started working on your idea. It is the thing that gets you up at 5AM to work on your project, and keeps you working on it late into the night, without feeling exhausted. It’s an energy that comes from inside. It is something other people can see too, and it attracts supporters, like a moth to a flame.

When you are passionate about your business, working on it does not really feel like work at all, it feels like something that you are meant to do. It feels as though you have finally found your place in the world, and that you are doing exactly what you should be.

That is exactly why so many of us hate our day jobs. We are not working on our passion, but someone else’s.

True – not all business success is attributable to passion alone. Some natural talent is involved too – however, when you feel a real passion for your business, problems are not obstacles; they are simply challenges to be overcome. You find yourself thinking about your business all the time, devising new strategies, ideas, products and services, but it does not feel like work.

Many people go through life without ever discovering their true passions. They are usually stuck in jobs they hate, and all that negative energy tends to spill over into their personal and social lives too. However, while there is a lot more to finding your passion than a simple question, ask yourself: what would you love to do every day of your life?

The real secret to identifying your true passions in life is to ask yourself that question, and take money out of the equation for a moment. What would you love to do every day of your life, if money was of no consequence? Once you have answered that question, all you need to do to begin living and working on your passions is to find a means to make that a reality.

It has been said that people who are truly passionate about what they do would do it even if they did not earn any money from it. While that may be true, in the vast majority of cases, you will find that people whose businesses are built on their passions enjoy more success, greater financial freedom, and all the material things we all want, rather than the other way around.

The biggest problem that most people face, in discovering and following their passion in business, is risk aversion. We are afraid of what will happen when we start to follow our passions. We are worried that things will turn out badly, or that we will fail. The trick is not to worry.

Once you know what your passions are, and are focused on them, you will start to find that things naturally have a way of falling into place. Worry can be a stumbling block, so put it out of your mind. Just focus on what you know you want in your life, and allow opportunities to flow naturally to you.

The idea that being in a business that you love and being financially free at the same time should be hard or that you should struggle to succeed is flawed. When you are doing what you are truly passionate about, your life should be easier, rather than harder! Why would you go into a business you do not like, and struggle for twenty, thirty or forty years to succeed, only to enjoy a few short years of retirement? You should be enjoying your business and your life now, and to do that, you need to follow your passions.

So, whether you are already in business, working on a business idea, or still just dreaming of success, ask yourself, are you doing what you are really passionate about? If the answer is no, then perhaps it is time for a change. Maybe you need to overhaul your business, or shift the focus of your business idea, or maybe you just need to find your passion. Whatever it is you need to do, know that doing it will set you free, to live the life you deserve.

Steps in Starting Your Own Mobile Printing Business

May 10th, 2012

When Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, it forever changed human civilization. Printing has become an essential part of man’s activities. As a matter of fact, printers are indispensable in different fields, from the corporate world to the academe. Normally computer printers are fixed in a certain spot, more often than not on a desk or on a table. Today, mobile printing has entered our world. With mobile printing, people who are always on the go get to print their much needed documents, photographs, and other important papers from their handheld devices or laptops to a mobile printer. But what exactly is mobile printing and what makes a mobile printer different from ordinary computer printers?

Mobile printing means the capacity to print documents outside a typical local printer or traditional network. Mobile printing relies on wireless technology like Bluetooth in order to connect a handheld device or laptop to a mobile printer. In mobile printing, the necessary pieces are a device with printing software like a laptop’s Microsoft Office applications, wireless technology, and a mobile printer.

A mobile printer is a new variety of computer printer that has wireless capacities such as Bluetooth. Examples of mobile printers are the HP Officejet H470 Mobile Printer series. Nowadays, the newly released computer printers are mobile printers since they no longer a wire connection to a device for them to print. That is to say, a lot of recently released printer models can be accessed wirelessly.

A printing business with the use of mobile printers can be profitable in the metropolitan setting these days. Corporate people who are always on the go, business executives who frequently use their laptops and wireless handhelds, and students who need to print their research papers as soon as possible are just examples of a mobile printing business demographic. The target market is there for this kind of printing business. If you want to start your own mobile printing business, then you need to consider these steps.

1. Look for a spot where your target market is available. The best location should be near coffee shops, schools, hotels, business districts, and generally places that are considered a WiFi hotspot. People in these places have two things in common: (1) they have handhelds or laptops that can access a network through wireless connection and (2) they need to print out something, whether it is a document or a photograph. It is important that you place a mobile printing booth or hub in these locations to offer your mobile printing services.

2. Staff your mobile printing booth or hub with knowledgeable personnel. You must have people who know the nitty-gritty details of mobile printing because this is a highly technical business. They must be able to assist customers in connecting their devices to your mobile printers.

3. Have the necessary drivers for customers’ devices. If needed, you must be able to quickly install the drivers needed for the customer’s laptop or handheld device to connect to the mobile printer. It is only prudent that you have these drivers because if they cannot connect to your mobile printers, then there is no business.

4. You need to advertise that people can access to your mobile printers to print their documents and photographs.

By following these basic steps, it is possible to start your printing business. With wireless technology widely available and gadgets that have wireless capabilities, there must be available mobile printers that can print out wirelessly. From the look of things, it seems to become a profitable business.

You want to get your message heard by the right people. There are some simple ways to approach small companies. Here are a few different ways of going about it.

Do a walk around of the local area and drop off a postcard or information sheet which is designed to grab the attention of the person in charge of the cleaning. Paper Shredder Oil: Why It’s Important

May 9th, 2012

One of the great things about paper shredders is that you don’ t need a lot of supplies to use them properly. Unlike some office machines (photocopiers, printers, computers, etc.), shredders don’t require the use of ink/toner, electronic media, and so on. All you really need are your documents and a plastic bag to keeps the shreds in one place, right? Not so fast. There is one absolutely essential thing you need to get the most out of your device: shredder oil. Let’s take a look at why it’s important.

Your paper shredder is like a lot of other machines in that it has a motor. The motor is what makes it possible for the machine to shred your documents and even credit cards, CD’s, and other items depending on what the device can handle. The motor has gears and other parts that can get worn out easily if they’re not lubricated properly.

That ‘s where shredder oil comes in. This lubricant is specially formulated to work with shredders to keep them in good condition. The oil reduces friction and drastically cuts down on the amount of wear and tear your shredder will go through. The blades will stay in good shape so you can be sure that your documents will be properly shredded. Oiling the device regularly also helps ensure that the shredding is as trouble-free as possible and it will even reduce the occurrence of paper jams.

It’s important to oil your shredder regularly – the recommended frequency should be noted in your machine’s instruction manual. (Different devices have different oiling schedules.) The actual act of oiling is pretty easy. All you really need to do is dampen a sheet of paper with the lubricant, feed it through the machine, and then follow it up with a dry sheet to pick up any extra liquid. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

If you find that you need to oil the machine on near-continual basis, you may want to consider investing in an automatic oiler. This is a device you can attach to your machine that will take care of the oiling for you. That way, your shredder will stay in good working order even as you go about your day.

Paper shredder oil is available in containers of different sizes. There are even gallon-sized jugs available for environments in which shredders are used constantly. A lot of the major office device manufacturers make their own lubricant. Make sure to use lubricants that are specially designed for shredders. Using other substances – such as cooking or motor oil – may end up damaging your machine.

Using oil is an important part of paper shredder maintenance, especially if you want to keep your machine in good shape. Luckily, this kind of lubricant is easy to use and you can even use an automatic oiler if you find the need to do so. Be sure to start oiling your shredder if you’re not already doing so. It will help you keep shredding as long as possible.
